Our equipment is set up in Imperial. When provided with a Metric drawing, we typically redraw it to Imperial units for ease of production. We do have measuring equipment in Metric and Imperial Units. Our lot sizes typically vary from 1 to 3000 pieces.
Routing Work Instructions:
Every Job that is performed by Harvan has a Process Sheet, which lists all of the operations that are required to manufacture parts to customer specifications. When the operator completes an operation, he or she initializes the operation complete on the Routing Sheet and the job is moved on to the next process area.
Product track from order to ship:
Harvan uses a “Job Open Close Checklist” to track products from order to ship. The front of the checklist identifies the steps to be taken before the work order is released to the floor and the back of the list identifies the steps to be taken when a job is complete. The checklists are kept on the Planning Board, which has locations for each job stage prior to release. When a job is released to the floor, employees log into operations using floor terminals and it is traced through our production software, Epicor’s Vista.
Traceability
Harvan employs a number of methods for traceability. Raw material is colour-coded and labeled with heat number. The Job package travels with the parts through production. Finished product is chem-etched with job number, heat number and part number and identified using a Green Acceptance Tag. Any product that uses purchased components (such as fasteners, electrical components, seals, bearings, etc.) is given a lot number at time of receipt. This lot number is used when issuing parts to assemblies, insuring full traceability.
