At Harvan Manufacturing, we’re well-equipped to provide a variety of services, including welding, bending, laser cutting and waterjet cutting. We possess a full line of state-of-the-art equipment for components requiring welding and fabrication. Our job shop is CSA W47.1 certified and our welders perform work in accordance with AWS codes. We are also ISO 9001:2015 certified to meet all international standards.
Harvan strives to not only meet, but to exceed your expectations. We perform thorough in-house quality assurance and inspections to ensure that our meticulous standards guide production from beginning to end. In-house macro-etch inspections, visual inspections, and a highly qualified network of testing facilities come together to form a reliable checklist of quality and performance facets of your products.
High Quality Welding for a Variety of Metals
Harvan Manufacturing offers a full spectrum of welding services in accordance with AWS codes and standards as determined by the American National Standards Institute, plus the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) for welding in accordance with CSA (Canadian Standards Association) code. Whether your project involves carbon steel, aluminum, or stainless steel, we have the tools and knowledge required to see it through. We also have the capabilities necessary to weld a variety of exotic metals.
Carbon Steel
The weldability of carbon steel is dependent on its chemical composition. Most carbon steels are high-iron, but other elements can be added to the steel to influence its welding capabilities. Welding carbon steel requires knowledge of the carbon content and equivalency of the steel, as well as its cooling rate and any other notable chemical composition concerns.
Stainless Steel
Recent experimentation and innovations in the production of stainless steel has resulted in a variety of materials with enhanced performance and aesthetics. Welding stainless steel is relatively straightforward. The process is similar to welding carbon steel, but requires a greater degree of care and control when it comes to heating and cooling.
Aluminum
Welding aluminum presents a handful of challenges that welding carbon and stainless steel do not. There’s a greater degree of crack sensitivity that needs to be considered, and selecting the proper filler metal, storage options, and cleaning methodology is essential. Specialized welding techniques need to be carried out properly in order to ensure success.
Our shop is well-equipped to handle a variety of welding projects. We primarily use the following welding methods:
- This welding method joins materials using an electric arc produced between a consumable electrode filler material and a conductive metal. (MIG)
- Frequently referred to as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding, this method uses a non-consumable electrode and an independent filler material to create a strong weld.
The Types of Fabrication Available at Our Facility
Fabricating metal allows raw metals to be turned into pre-made shapes for later assembly use. There are a number of processes that can be utilized during the fabrication process, and each of these requires practice and skill to master and complete effectively. Specialized tooling and machining are also generally required.
In addition to welding services, the Harvan team has the capability to perform a number of other fabrication processes based on client needs. Bending and laser and waterjet cutting are all carried out in-house by our certified, experienced team.
Welding, Fabrication, and More from Harvan Manufacturing
Our in-house experts can provide quality welding services to AWS and ANSI standards, and our other fabrication services are of the highest quality. To supplement our welding and fabrication services, we also partner with a reliable network of subcontracted test facilities which can perform a variety of testing services including:
- Magnetic particle inspection (MPI)
- Liquid penetrant inspection (LPI)
- Ultrasonic testing (UT)
- Radiographic testing (RT)
- Mechanical testing (tensile, toughness, hardness)
When welding critical components; whether it be protecting our brave men and women in the battlefield, transporting toxic or harmful substances through a pipeline, or protecting international data cables at the bottom of the ocean; you must make sure that the welds in place are sound and up to the task.
At Harvan, we understand the importance of a quality product and will work with our customers to ensure that your welding needs are well-met or exceeded. We also have a range of inspection capabilities both destructive and non-destructive to verify the integrity of our work.
